Songwriter: Abstract

[Intro]
Soldier boy
Oh, my little soldier boy
I'll be true to—
Shut the fuck up

[Verse 1]
I never stop thinkin', so the rappin' never stoppin'
I don't aim to make a racket but I'll ball with a topspin
No one can match the length that I run
Check the hurdles lately that I've been mothafuckin' hoppin'
Kids like your drop before your album ever drops in
But y'all better check the time
I mean, you better watch it like a wrist
Killin' it with every rhyme, I don't care who watchin' this
This is the code that I live by
Guns spittin' bullets but I get so much ammunition
Soon they gon' refill the magazine, at least that's what they wishin'
Create a mess in my kitchen then throw away the dishes
I spit about my own fuckin' life
I don't ever gotta cater to what you fuckers like
This is my passion and I spit to my own mic
Sit with methbombs in class but all I wanna do is write
Freedom of speech is my fuckin' right (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
So just like everything, it's use it or lose it
If I wanna change my content, it's my choice to move it
I got a voice layer 'fraid of the power
If it was my choice, I'd turn this year into an hour
They just scared of what would happen if I got to the top
Would I stay there? Would I let it all drop?
Back down and hit their heads that didn't believe
No longer locked out
People yellin', "Yo, who gave this kid the key?"

[Chorus]
It's the code that I live by
I'm real so it's a question of how not why
It's just the code that I live by
This is an endeavor for future, so this is do-or-die
It's the code that I live by
Do-do-do-do-do-or-die (Yeah)
Do-do-do-or-die
Do-do-do-do-or-doe

[Bridge]
[?] another one of those gangster hits

[Verse 2]
Yo, but maybe I'm not that good
'Cause I ain't from the mothafuckin' hood
Maybe I'll stop rappin' and see if it does me any good
Cut the music, cut the music—
Mmmm, mm-mm
—Nah, I can't take the silence
The music and the melody got too many words behind it
I'm on fire and I need a fuckin' vent
I wanna be the face even Alzheimer's can't forget, haha
Life ain't about no rainbows
Gasoline dribbled on the mothafuckin' pavement
The road's gotten rough, only the truth can pave it
Hip-hop's a mess and for some reason, I got the need to save it
Put the success on my math test and watch the teacher grade it
Y'all gonna be surprised when I actually make it
But this is who I am
And I never ever fuckin' change it

[Chorus]
It's just the code that I live by
I'm real so it's a question of how not why
It's just the, it's just the— (Yeah)
It's just the code that I live by
This is an endeavor for the future, so this is do-or-die
It's just the, it's just the— (Yeah)
Do-or-die
It's just the code that I live by
Do-do-do-do, it's do-or-die (Yeah, yeah)
It's just the code that I live by

Abstract

Growing up in New Jersey, Luke Terkovich, otherwise known as Abstract, was involved with music at an early age. Learning how to play piano, electric guitar, and the drums were Luke’s first involvement with music — and he did it all before 6th grade. With a move across country from New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, the distance between learning and playing new instruments got larger. It wasn’t until several years later that Luke began to mess around with freestyling during his high school years spent at Jackson Hole High. Evolving his newly found musical expression into Raised in Jackson, WY, Abstract is known for his immense musical versatility and affinity for providing uplifting music for a turbulent world. With a knack for storytelling, he provides introspective motivation to all who take the time to dive into his work. Notably known for his remix of Ruth Bs Lost Boy “Neverland” which has garnered hundreds of millions of plays on YouTube, his work with Drumma Battalion and Roze, and his 2016 album Something to Write Home About. He heads a collective known as “A Team Worldwide” 5 musicians from 4 different countries. Producers Drumma Battalion of Norway, Blulake of Sweden, Cryo Music of Scotland, and Abstract. Coming off his first overseas tour with YONAS, the ATWW collective is gearing up to drop Abstracts new album/experience late summer 2018.writing detailed lyrics, he began to find that he could vent the stresses of his everyday life through creating music. Slowly progressing through the years of his new town where he calls home; balancing school, life, and music developed Luke to become Abstract.

Trying to find his sound was a young teenager who just looked to get something written down and then translated into music, and eventually rap. Still in his caterpillar stage of metamorphosis was a young Abstract who released his first ever collection of songs, properly named The Dream.

In 2012, through YouTube, Abstract met Craig McAllister, a producer from Glasgow, Scotland. During that period, Abstract was in the midst of working on On My Own Time and was the first time Craig showed up with Abstract. Afterwards, the duo started to mesh extremely well and produced the five projects, Under Lights & Microscopes, A Life To Live By, Dreaming With Eyes Open, The Science Of Feeling Tall, and We Are The Artist.
