I'm here to talk about what it means to be "normal"
Normality or normalcy
Um which "Normal C" is a good name for a rapper
"Normal C and I'm here to say
I'm A-B normal in a major way"
Get it? Abnormal? A-B normal?
That's besides the point...
Anyway, I have found that in our culture
Of comfort that we have that most people's existence
Are wrapped up in their relationship to "normal"
Air quotes, "normal" and it's either that you aspire
To be normal- aspire for that American Dream
That you're gonna get that great job and that great house
And have great kids with your great husband and or wife
Um that you aspire to do those things
And everything that you do is wrapped up
In acquiring those things and acquiring that position
And the opposite one, the one that I tend to identify with
And I think those of you who listen to this album
Identify with, is not being normal
Or being told you're not normal rather
Because it's not that I was trying to BE different
As much as that I liked the things that I liked
And I did the things that I did
And it wasn't until I was made AWARE
Made acutely aware by those who aspire to be normal
That what I was doing was different
Than what they decided is the thing to be or the thing to do
It wasn't until then that I felt that I was uh
Making a statement or something and ever since then
I've been very aware of the things around me
That I'm being told are and aren't true
Very culturally aware heh heh heh
To pat myself on the back
All I'm saying is, doesn't matter what the fuck you are
As long as you know it to yourself
There's no such thing as authenticity anymore
All you can ever do is hope to be honest to yourself
About what you're doing in the moment that you're doing it
And on top of that be honest with yourself
When that shit changes
Enjoy the show!
