Songwriter: Alanis Morissette

Producer: Glen Ballard

[Verse 1]
I'm wise and ambitious
And angry and free
And smart and available
And sexy
And soft and appealing
And wearing pajamas
And twisted and willing
And crazy

[Chorus]
And this is the story of the death of Cinderella
She grew to be a maid cause she couldn't find a fella
That could please her
And it's all they could do not to throw her on the floor

[Verse 2]
And thought-provoking
And opinionated
Cultured and funny
And experienced
Fearless and tender
And sweetly innocent
Uninhibited
Likes a good debate

[Chorus 2]
And this is the story of the death of Cinderella
She grew to be a maid cause she couldn't find a fella
That could please her
And it's all that you could do not to tie her to the bed

[Bridge]
I could fall in love a million times before I die
You could draw me a bubble bath
We could walk into the sunset

[Chorus 3]
This is the story of the death of Cinderella
She grew to be a maid cause she couldn't find a fella
That could please her
And it's all they could do not to shake her shoulders

[Chorus 4]
And this is the story of the death of Cinderella
I'm gonna grow to be a maid cause I'll never find a fella
That can please me
And it's all you can do not to kick me in the ass

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. At age 6, she began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was 9, she was writing her own songs.

When she was 11, Morissette joined the cast of a Nickelodeon children’s show called You Can’t Do That on Television, and saved up her earnings. In 1987, she used them to self-release her first track, “Fate Stay With Me.” The song caught the attention of record label MCA Canada; at age 14, Morissette signed a contract with the company. She released a self-titled album, Alanis, in 1991, which went platinum. Quickly following up the success of her first album, Morissette released Now Is The Time a year later, though it did not reach the same level of popularity.

In 1994 Morissette moved to Los Angeles teamed up with industry veteran Glen Ballard, and she began to approach songwriting more organically.
