[Verse 1]
I wear their face on top of my face
I am the perfect target screen
For your blindly fueled rage

[Verse 2]
I bare the brunt of your long buried pain
I don't mind helping you out
But I want you to remember my name

[Chorus]
It's not all me
It's not all my fault
I may remind you
But I won't take it all on

[Verse 3]
Past riddled rage
I see the buttons I engage
With my dignity in place
I'm all too happy to assuage

[Chorus]
It's not all me
It's not all my fault
I may remind you
But I won't take it all on

[Bridge]
Lest I find my voice
Find the strength to stand up to you
Lest I stay to my limit
And take on only what is mine to

[Verse 4]
We are a team
I'm here to help mend and re-seam
All I trigger unknowingly
A job I hold in high esteem

[Chorus]
It's not all me
It's not all my fault
I may remind you
But I won't take it all on

[Outro]
It's not all me
It's not all my fault
I need remind you
But I won't take it all on
I'll only take some of it

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. At age 6, she began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was 9, she was writing her own songs.

When she was 11, Morissette joined the cast of a Nickelodeon children’s show called You Can’t Do That on Television, and saved up her earnings. In 1987, she used them to self-release her first track, “Fate Stay With Me.” The song caught the attention of record label MCA Canada; at age 14, Morissette signed a contract with the company. She released a self-titled album, Alanis, in 1991, which went platinum. Quickly following up the success of her first album, Morissette released Now Is The Time a year later, though it did not reach the same level of popularity.

In 1994 Morissette moved to Los Angeles teamed up with industry veteran Glen Ballard, and she began to approach songwriting more organically.
