[Verse 1]
She surrounds me, my God, she astounds me
And everything she does will make me weak
Take my heart now, go ahead and break my heart down
Be careful with the words you choose to speak

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause it's Judgement Day, and she's a little bit angry
Might get a little bit reckless with my heart
It's too much these days
She says she really wants to love me
But then again she might kill me
'Cause that's who we are

[Chorus]
It's hard to understand
This relationship is a burning garden
Break my heart like kindergarten
I hate you, then I'll beg your pardon
I love you now lets plant a garden

[Verse 2]
Give me fire, my girl, she's a liar
She told me she was at her friend's last week
She was with him, I know that she was with him
And when I think about it, I can't sleep

[Pre-Chorus]
Now it's Judgement Day, and I'm a little bit angry
Might get a little bit reckless with her heart
It's too much these days
Oh, I really want to leave her
But then again I still need her
It tears me apart

[Chorus]
It's hard to understand
This relationship is a burning garden
Break my heart like kindergarten
I hate you, then I'll beg your pardon
I love you now lets plant a garden

[Bridge]
We burn a beautiful flame
We burn a beautiful flame
We burn a beautiful flame
We burn a beautiful flame
We burn a beautiful flame
We burn a beautiful flame
We burn a beautiful flame

[Chorus/Outro]
It's hard to understand
This relationship is a burning garden
Break my heart like kindergarten
It's hard to understand
This relationship is a burning garden
Break my heart like kindergarten
I hate you, then I'll beg your pardon
I love you now lets plant a garden
I hate you now I'm breathing carbon
Our love is like a burning garden

Alec Benjamin

After getting dropped by Columbia Records at 18 years old, singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin built a following by playing in parking lots outside of Shawn Mendes and Troye Sivan concerts. The Phoenix, Arizona native caught the attention of Jon Bellion, earning a songwriting credit on Bellion’s debut album and later joined him on tour.

To build on the momentum, Benjamin began uploading new songs to his YouTube channel at a rapid clip and eventually earned on a viral hit with “I Built a Friend” and a deal with Atlantic Records.

Benjamin connects to listeners by incorporating using his life struggles to tell stories and give meaning to his songs. You can see this in “Let Me Down Slowly,” “Paper Crown,” “I Built a Friend,” “Death of a Hero,” and “If We Have Each Other.”
