[Verse: Alessia Cara]
Make my way through the motions, I try to ignore it
But home's looking farther the closer I get
Don't know why I can't see the end
Is it over yet? Hmm

A short leash and a short fuse don't match
They tell me it ain't that bad, "Now, don't you overreact"
So I just hold my breath
Don't know why I can't see the sun when young should be fun

[Pre-Chorus: Alessia Cara]
And I guess the bad can get better
Gotta be wrong before it's right
Every happy phrase engraved in my mind
And I've always been a go-getter
There's truth in every word I write
But still, the growing pains, growing pains
They're keeping me up at night

You're on your own, kid
You are

[Chorus: Alessia Cara, Curtis Smith]
And I can't hide 'cause growing pains are keeping me up at night
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
And I can't hide (And I can't hide)
'cause growing pains are keeping me up at night ('cause growing pains)

[Verse 2: Curtis Smith]
[?] flights, 35 nights
29 creeps to the mind
Spend it all lost in the ridin the TO vibe, OT ridin
Flowers pretty in the sun
Are you missin' on the run
I'll be reminiscing on the front
Just a couple day one's trying to hit a homerun yeah
Grow fast [?] baby
Want to get away, elevate, celebrate
Make time for the movies and the lemonade
Cartoons, blues clues and some better days

We can't rewind time
The fine lines and guidelines
To finish last the sidelines

[Pre-Chorus: Alessia Cara]
And I guess the bad can get better
Gotta be wrong before it's right
Every happy phrase engraved in my mind
I've always been a go-getter
There's truth in every word I write
But still, the growing pains, growing pains
They're keeping me up at night

[Chorus: Alessia Cara]
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
And I can't hide 'cause growing pains are keeping me up at night
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
And I can't hide 'cause growing pains are keeping me up at night

[Outro: Alessia Cara]
Starting to look like Ms. Know-It-All can't take her own advice
Can't find pieces of my peace of mind
I cry more than I want to admit
But I can't lie to myself, to anyone
'Cause phoning it in isn't any fun
Can't run back to my youth the way I want to
The days my brother was quicker to fool

AM radio, not much to do
Used monsters as an excuse to lie awake
Now the monsters are the ones that I have to face
No band-aids for the growing pains
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
No, no, no band-aids for the growing pains

Alessia Caracciolo is a singer-songwriter from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Upon the release of her first single, “Here”, she shortened her last name because it was “so long and spelled crazy.”

Cara started posting covers on her YouTube channel at the age of 13. She first started to gain popularity when she posted a cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors.” Soon after, her cover of The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” took off. These covers got her signed to EP Entertainment and later, Def Jam.

Her first single, “Here” premiered on The FADER on April 27th, 2015, and blew up soon after. Just four months later, the song racked up 18 million Spotify streams in addition to 4.5 million views on its official video.
