Songwriter: Sean Kinney Layne Staley Jerry Cantrell

Producer: Alice in Chains Alex Coletti Toby Wright

[False start verse]
You insult me in my home, you're forgiven this time
There's no pressures besides brilliance, let's say by day 9... fuck!

Jerry: We're allowed a couple of those, it's been a while
You guys just get to hear more, that's all

Layne: That's just how these things go

[Verse 1]
You insult me in my home, you're forgiven this time
Things go well, your eyes dilate, you shake, and I'm high!
Look in my eyes deep and watch the clouds change with time
20 hours won't print my picture milk carton size

Carton size, carton size, carton size

[Verse 2]
Call me up congratulations ain't the real why
There's no pressure besides brilliance let's say by day 9
Corporate ignorance lets me control time
By the way, by the way

[Chorus]
Once again you see him in this
Discolored skin gives you away
So afraid you kindly gurgle
Out a date for me

[Bridge]
Now the body of one soul I adore wants to die
You have always told me you'd not live past 25
I say stay long enough to repay all who cause strife

[Chorus]
Once again you see him in this
Discolored skin gives you away
So afraid you kindly gurgle
Out a date for me

Once again you see him in this
Discolored skin gives you away
So afraid you kindly gurgle
Out a date for me

Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains are a Seattle-based rock band. They rose to international fame in the early 1990s as part of the ‘grunge’ movement. They are one of the most critically and commercially acclaimed acts of the 90s. Their first 3 studio albums all went multi-platinum and they have received 8 Grammy nominations for Best Hard Rock performance (sadly, never winning once).

Their unique sound comes from the harmonized vocals of co-founders Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell, as showcased in some of their biggest songs like “No Excuses” from Jar of Flies, “Angry Chair” from Dirt and “Again” from the self-titled album. Cantrell also serves as the primary songwriter and guitarist of the band.

The band was never restricted to grunge. Cantrell believes it to be heavy metal; and indeed a lot of modern heavy metal bands cite Alice in Chains as an influence, including Metallica for Death Magnetic.
