Songwriter: Amy Winehouse

[Intro]
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

[Verse 1]
Waitress on skates in training
They dart to call it dreamin'
Images present themselves to me
Seeds are ripe for reapin'
I continue sleepin'
You're everything you ever wanted to be, yeah
And nothin' here is changin'
No messy rearrangin'
'Cause every set of ficus stays the same
Sinatra's always singin'
And you do all the clingin'
And someone else accepts my place

[Chorus]
Whatever my imagination throws
So rugged, growin' rose
When my eyes do close
When my eyes do close
When they close

[Verse 2]
Turn and face my ceilin'
Deep in all the feelin'
Inhibitions turn to dust and fly away
Stop my eyelids flickerin'
With your petty bickerin'
But this time, I say what I got to say
I hear my girl Dinah's playin'
And a tree's branches start swayin'
Run over and sit right by the roof
And I see the leaves are growin'
Little birds are showin'
Reach out a hand and bite into the fruit

[Chorus]
Whatever my imagination throws
So rugged, growin' rose
When my eyes do close
When my eyes do close
When they close

[Bridge]
Nothin' such a scrutiny (Nothin' such a scrutiny)
Avoidin' all the mutiny
You are lovin', beautifully
And it's fragrant beautifully
Colourful and monochrome
Amy Winehouse alone
Far away from ringin' phone at home
I turn to stone, turn to stone
And all the thoughts are static
Yeah, my singin' is automatic
And I wish that I could sell it
And my every urge, you tell her
'Cause I can sense no danger
I am the lone ranger through the desert in a yellow caddy
With a black-haired, blue-eyed stranger

[Verse 3]
White dress outside dryin'
I've been a fear for flyin'
I overtake Montgomery in skills, yeah
Never been more darin'
Kitten heels I'm wearin'
Reality, a blow that sometimes kills
And when I drop it lyrically
Worlds evolve generically
And I don't ever need to collapse in tears
And I could curse your timin'
Thunderously mimin'
And I feel young beyond my years

[Chorus]
Whatever my imagination throws
So rugged, growin' rose
When my eyes do close
When my eyes do close
When they close

Amy Winehouse

Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September, 1983 — 23 July, 2011) was an English singer-songwriter known for her immediately recognisable contralto vocal range and soul-jazz style of vocals.

Even at age fourteen, Amy had a breathtakingly unique set of vocals that would propel her into stardom. By age nineteen, she had signed with Simon Fuller’s management company 19 Management. Soon after, she was scouted by Island Record’s A&R representative Darcus Beese and signed over to Island Records. In less than a year, after working closely alongside legendary music producer Salaam Remi, Amy released her debut studio album Frank. The album was praised for its jazz-influenced sound, and earned a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2004 Mercury Music Prize Awards. It rolled out some of Amy’s most notable singles, including “Fuck Me Pumps” and “Stronger Than Me,” the latter of which winning Amy her first Ivor Novello Award in 2004.

Three years after Frank on October 27, 2006, Amy released her sophomore and final studio album Back to Black. The album narrated the ups and downs of Amy’s personal life, most specifically the turmoils she faced with her partner Blake Fielder-Civil. Back to Black saw Amy branch out in terms of genre and production while working with fellow English producer Mark Ronson, who produced five of the eleven tracks featured on the album. Its lead single, “Rehab,” solidified itself as Amy’s staple track, detailing the conversation she had with her management after fears her drinking habits were causing her too much damage. The album’s title track “Back to Black” was released as another single a few months after “Rehab” and unfolded the dark moments that Amy faced after her relationship with Fielder-Civil came to a halt. Despite the album’s immense popularity and four Grammy Award wins, the attention it received, coupled with the incessant touring of the album and pressure placed on her personal life, visibly plunged Amy into her darkest hours that quickly lead to her untimely demise.
