[Intro]
One, two, one two three

[Verse 1]
The night was black, rain fallin' down
I looked for my baby, she's nowhere around
Chased her footsteps down to the shore
Afraid she's gone for ever more

[Chorus]
Well, I looked at the sea, seemed to say
"I took your baby from you away"
I heard a voice crying in the deep
"Come join me, baby, in my endless sleep, yeah"

[Verse 2]
Why did we quarrel? Why did we fight?
Why did I leave her alone last night?
That's why her footsteps ran down to the sea
That's why my baby has gone from me

[Chorus]
Well, I looked at the sea, seemed to say
"I took your baby from you away"
Well, I heard a voice cry in the deep
"Come join me, baby, in my endless sleep (yeah)
Endless sleep"

[Bridge]
Out in the water, heart full of fear
There in the breaker I saw her near
Reached for my darlin', held her to me
Dragged her away from the angry sea

[Chorus]
Well, I looked at the sea, seemed to say
"I took your baby from you away" (mm mm yeah)
I heard a voice cryin' in the deep, yeah
"I took your baby from the endless sleep"
Well, I dragged my baby from the angry sea
Yeah

Billy Idol

Billy Idol is an English rock musician, songwriter and actor. Born in Stanmore, Middlesex, Idol first achieved fame in the punk rock era as a member of the band Generation X. Unlike other British punk rock artists of his era, Idol was inspired by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

A series of music videos for songs such as “Dancing With Myself”, “White Wedding”, “Rebel Yell” and “Eyes Without a Face” made him one of the first MTV stars. Idol continues to tour with guitarist Steve Stevens.

Idol’s 1987 release, “Mony Mony” reached #1 on the US top 40 charts; his songs to chart in the top 10 include: White Wedding, Eyes Without a Face, To Be a Lover and Cradle of Love.
