Songwriter: blackbear

[Intro]
The money, the power, the sex, the fame
The lies, the guilt, the pride, the shame
The drugs, the party, the rules, the game
The rock, the roll, the teenage, the waste
Woah-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh, oh-oh

[Chorus]
The money, the power, the sex, the fame
The lies, the guilt, the pride, the shame
The drugs, the party, the rules, the game
The rock, the roll, the teenage waste

[Verse]
Fuck your imagination and all that you believe in
Fuck all your reasons and everything you dream of
We are the drugs inside your head, yeah
And we are the ones you won't forget, oh-oh
We are the weakness in your knees
We are your friends and enemies
We like it better in the world when it's burning down
Better in the world when it's burning for you

[Pre-Chorus]
The money, the power (Wasted America), the sex, the fame
The lies, the guilt, the pride (We are the youth), the shame
The drugs, the party (Give me a gun), the rules, the game
The rock, the roll, the teenage waste (And teach me to shoot)
(Wasted America) We are the kings
(Teach me to die) And teach me to live

[Chorus]
The money, the power, the sex, the fame
The lies, the guilt, the pride, the shame
The drugs, the party, the rules, the game
The rock, the roll, the teenage waste

[Bridge]
Ooh, ooh, ooh
(The money, the power, the sex, the fame
The lies, the guilt, the pride)
Woah-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Listen now (Woah-oh) money

[Outro]
Fuck your imagination, oh, fuck all you believe in
It all means nothing now, fuck all your dreams, girl
They will all thank you in a nice way
So fuck your fucking status and your money
And your passion 'cause what matters to the hungry beast?
So fuck you and fuck me, [?]

blackbear

blackbear is the stage name of LA-based producer and singer-songwriter Mat Musto, popularly known for co-writing Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend,” in 2012. Some of his first collaborations were with the likes of Pharrell Williams, MGK, and Childish Gambino. Later, Musto reinvented himself—he coined the name blackbear from a previous EP titled Year of the Blackbear. Under his new name, he started leaning more towards rapping and an R&B-oriented style.

His first mixtape Sex included collaborations with his peers James Blake, Maejor Ali, and “Boyfriend” co-writer Mike Posner. The Afterglow followed in 2014.

In 2015, blackbear released “idfc,” as the lead single from his debut album Deadroses. It increased his fan following and revenue, earning him millions of playback streams and a spot on Billboard’s Uncharted List of Undiscovered and Upcoming Artists. The second single, “90210,” included a feature from G-Eazy—blackbear made an appearance in his 2014 track, “Remember You.”
