[Verse 1]
Mama, take this badge off of me
I can’t use it anymore
It’s gettin’ dark, too dark to see
And I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door

[Chorus]
Knocking on, knocking on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Just like so many time's before

[Verse 2]
Mama, wipe the blood out of my face
I just can't see through it any more
That long red feeling and it's hard to trace
And I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door

[Chorus]
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Just like so many time's before

[Harmonica Solo]

[Verse 3]
Mama, lay my guns into the ground
I just can’t fire them anymore
That long black train is a-comin’ down
I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door

[Chorus]
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Just like so many time's before

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan (born Robert Zimmerman May 24, 1941), is an American singer-songwriter, writer, and artist who has influenced popular music and culture for more than five decades. Dylan has especially played a critical role in the American folk music revival.

Dylan’s songs are built from myriad political, social, philosophical and literary influences. Many of his anti-war and civil-rights-influenced songs set social unrest, as journalists widely named him the “spokesman for his generation” in the 1960s.

The musician has a signature change in voice and style in many different albums of his throughout the decades. He has notably explored and experimented with the genres of folk, rap, blues, and rock.
