[Verse 1]
I've seen the top, I've seen the view
Lately I find not much is new
And there's always a hill out there beyond
Where I could be and where I belong

[Verse 2]
Some always take, some have to win
They leave you with scars again and again
As they reach for the sky only to fall
They never change, I've seen them all

[Chorus]
Let the rivers run like they always do
It's not up to me, it's not up to you
When we reach the end, when our time is done
Let us all be still while the rivers run

[Piano Solo]

[Chorus]
Let the rivers run from the great divide
I will stay with you, I'll be by your side
When we reach the end, when the words are done
Let us listen well while the rivers run

Robert Clark “Bob” Seger (born May 6, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist. As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the “System” from his recordings and continued to strive for broader success with various other bands. In 1973, he put together the Silver Bullet Band, with a group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful on the national level with the album Live Bullet, recorded live with the Silver Bullet Band in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. On his studio albums, he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on several of Seger’s best-selling singles and albums.

In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the studio album Night Moves. The Night Moves title track became his first Billboard Top 5 single and the album started a string six consecutive albums landing in the Billbaord Top 10. The 1980 album, Against the Wind, topped the charts.
