[Verse 1]
I used to be your girlfriend and I know I did it well
Oh yes, you know it's true
You'd call me Cinderella
All you had to do was yell, and I'd be there for you

[Pre-Chorus]
Here I am, so try to forgive me
I don't believe in fairytales
Here we are with nothing but honesty
I've had enough, I'm not gonna stay

[Chorus]
I'm sorry for running away like this
And I'm sorry, I've already made my wish
Aah, but Cinderella's got to go

[Verse 2]
From time to time, I tried to tell just what was on my mind
You'd tell me, "Not today"
"Come back, do that"
"Where's Cinderella at?"
Was all you had to say

[Pre-Chorus]
Here I am, so try to forgive me
I don't believe in fairytales
Here we are with nothing but honesty
I've had enough, I'm not gonna stay

[Chorus]
I'm sorry for running away like this
And I'm sorry, I've already made my wish
Aah, but Cinderella's got to go
I'm sorry, just trying to live my life
Don't worry, you're gonna be alright
But Cinderella's got to go

[Bridge]
I used to say I want you
You cast me in your spell
I did everything you wanted me to
But now I shall break free from all your lies
I won't be blind, you see
My love, it can't be sacrificed
I won't return to thee

[Post-Bridge]
I'm so sorry, I've already made up my mind
I won't return to thee
I'm sorry to say, I'm running away now
Don't worry, you will be alright
I'm running away, I've made up my mind now
You're gonna have to let me go

[Chorus]
I'm sorry for running away like this
And I'm sorry, I've already made my wish
Aah, but Cinderella's got to go
I'm sorry, just trying to live my life
Don't worry, you're gonna be alright
But Cinderella's got to go

Britney Spears

Britney Jean Spears (born December 2, 1981) is an American singer and actress. Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows as a child before signing with Jive Records in 1997.

Spears’s first and second studio albums, …Baby One More Time and Oops!… I Did It Again, became international successes, with the former becoming the best-selling album by a teenage solo artist. Title tracks “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops!… I Did It Again” broke international sales records, with the former reaching number one in every country it charted in. In 2001, Spears released her self-titled third studio album, Britney, and played the starring role in the film Crossroads (2002). She assumed creative control of her fourth studio album, In the Zone, which yielded the worldwide success of the single “Toxic.”

In 2007, Spears’s much-publicized personal issues sent her career into hiatus. Her fifth studio album, Blackout, was released later that year, and spawned hits such as “Gimme More” and “Piece of Me”.
