High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a Disney+ exclusive series which takes place at the same East High that the famous High School Musical original Disney film series took place. The main premise of the show is that the cast are actual students at East High who audition for their production of the musical High School Musical.

The series stars a new cast with its first episode airing on November 12, 2019 – thirteen years after the original High School Musical first released on January 20, 2006 – the launch date of the Disney+ streaming service.

The main cast includes Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Kate Reinders.
