[Verse 1]
Just when everything's in order and good
Things fall apart
Just when life should be resolving, I'm back at the beginning
And it comes back to the heart

[Pre-Chorus 1]
I'm not really sad, I'm not running, I'm looking
Did I tell you I kept all your letters and cards?

[Chorus 1]
There's just nothing left for me to do here but unhook the stars
There's just nothing left for me to do here but unhook the stars

[Verse 2]
Do you remember when I told you all that I could
And it seemed like too much
I was living your life, hoping you'd never fall
If I held on tight enough

[Pre-Chorus 2]
And letting go now is like a passport to anywhere
With time on my hands I can make a new start

[Chorus 2]
I just didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars
I just didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars

[Bridge]
Don't worry for me
It's just I'm inspired
Waiting in the wings
Made me drunk with possibilities
Rivals my memories

[Chorus 3]
I didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars
I just didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars

[Verse 1]
Everything's in order and good
Things fall apart
Just when life should be resolving and I'm back at the beginning
It comes back to the heart

[Pre-Chorus 1]
I'm not really sad, I'm not running, I'm looking
Did I tell you I kept all your letters and cards?

[Chorus 1]
There's just nothing left for me to do here but unhook the stars
There's just nothing left for me to do here but unhook the stars

[Outro]
Didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars
Didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars
I didn't wanna stay here and unhook the stars

Cyndi Lauper

An 80’s pop starlet that skyrocketed her way to the top of the mainstream game, Cyndi Lauper has made her mark as an artist both socially and musically.

Beginning her solo career in the 1983 with hit debut album She’s So Unusual, Lauper came to be a household name with the four top-five hits that came with the record, including breakthrough single “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and the visceral, chart-topping “Time After Time”. Her camp attitude, electrifying vocals, and unrelenting earworms made an impression on the general public, and she would take home Best New Artist and Best Album Package at the Grammy’s for She’s So Unusual, amidst 4 other nominations. Lauper would never reach the same sort of stardom again musically following She’s So Unusual, but her legacy was far from over.

She’s So Unusual set the ground for her next True Colors. Released in 1986, the album most notably contained title-track “True Colors”, which would grow to become a primary anthem of the gay rights movement. Lauper would later serve as a key advocate of the LGBT community, and she has fairly consistently addressed homophobia throughout her career.
