Oh, the things you say
Can ruin a day
We are distant lovers
Such distant lovers

The sky's an angry grey
But we can't look away
We try to break one another
We try to break one another

Landing in some turquoise town
Best not sleep around
There's whispering
They're listening
Then talking
The world is watching

[Chorus]
Oh! Don't stay so far away
My distant lover, my distant lover
Oh! The things you say
We try to break one another
We try to break one another

It's there in black and white
We fuss and we fight
I'm a difficult boy
With a difficult mother

So let's chalk it up to that
The unavoidable fact
It's a difficult world
We try to break one another

Some attractions take you down
Best not mess around
Keep walking
There will be talking
So much talking
The world is watching

[Chorus]
Oh! Don't stay so far away
My distant lover, my distant lover
Oh! The things you say
We try to break one another
We try to break one another
Oh! Why are you so far away?
My distant lover, my distant lover
No I won't hear a word they say
I don't want to lose another
I don't want to lose another
