"Candle in the Wind" is a song with music by Elton John and lyrics by Bernie Taupin. It was originally written in 1973, in honor of Marilyn Monroe, who had died 11 years earlier. In 1997, John performed a remake of the song as a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales. This version of the song was released as a single, and reached No. 1 in many countries, proving a much greater success than the original. Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. Evanescence was originally promoted in Christian stores. Later, the band made it clear they did not want to be considered part of the Christian rock genre, like fellow Wind-up Records artists Creed. Some of their most popular hits “Bring Me to Life,” “My Immortal,” and “What You Want.”

In 2014, the band parted ways with their long-term record label Wind-Up and became independent artists. In late 2016, they released a Ultimate Collection box set featuring all their albums along with the 2000 demo album Origin and a B-sides compilation Lost Whispers.

In November 2017, they released their fourth album, Synthesis, featuring a reimagining of some of their past songs plus two new original songs with the spotlight on full orchestra and electronics.
