One for the money
One song I'm writing for you
And if you can't take me with you girl
Take this Melody for a Memory
Love in the morning
Love in the late afternoon
It's not the best I can give you girl
Take this Melody for a Memory

Can't take me with you
Your half became a part of me
Can't take me with you
Now all I wanna give you girl
Can't take me with you
Take a Melody for a memory
Take part of me, take part of me

She cried when he left her
Her eyes went black with the blue
The infrequent letters
The sooner the better (the sooner the better)
The cold distant phone calls
Gonna have to do

Can't take me with you
And you'll have to take a part of me
Can't take me with you
Ooohh all I wanna give you girl
Can't take me with you
Take a Melody for a Memory
Take part of me, take part of me

Take this melody...
Take part of me, take part of me
Take part of me (take a part of me)
Part of me, part of me (take part of me)
Part of me, part of me (take part of me)
Part of me, part of me (take part of me)

And if you can't take me with you (can't take me with you)
You'll have to take apart of me
Can't take me with you
Ooohh all I wanna give you girl
If you can't take me with you (can't take me with you)
Take a Melody for a Memory

If you can't take me with you (ooh oou ooh)
You'll have to take a Melody
Take part of me, take part of me
Now all I can give, all I wanna give
If you can't take me with you
You'll have to take apart of me
Take part of me, take part of me
It's not the best to give yah girl
And if you can't take me with you
You'll have to take a Memory, It's apart of me
All I wanna give you girl
If you can't take me with you
Memory with you
All I wanna give you

Hall & Oates

Hall & Oates released the first of their 18 albums in 1972 on Atlantic Records. They would go on to sell 13 million albums and 6 million singles primarily during the 70’s and 80’s when they recorded their most prolific and profound music. They blended rock, jazz, soul, and pop create a genre they titled rock and soul.

While their technical musicianship, innovative songwriting styles, and popular live performances were praised, they also had a fruitful partnership with their manager Tommy Mottola, who was helped Hall & Oates break into music videos before they were popular and made profitable financial deals by helping them get on the ground level of and corporate sponsorship of tours. Hall & Oates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
