Songwriter: Daryl Hall

Producer: David Foster

[Verse 1: Daryl Hall]
Midnight hour almost over
Time is running out for the magic pair
I know you gave the best that you have
But one more chance
Couldn't be all that hard to bear

[Hook: Daryl Hall and John Oates]
Wait for me, please
Wait for me
Oh
I guess that's more than I should ask
Why won't you wait for me (Wait for me)
Please, wait for me (Wait for me)
Although I know the light is fading fast

[Verse 2: Daryl Hall]
You could go either way
Is it easier to stay
I wonder what you'll do
When your chance rolls around
But you gotta know how much I want to keep you
When I'm away I'm afraid it will all fall down
Please, wait for me (Wait for me)

[Hook: Daryl Hall and John Oates]
So, wait for me, please
(Wait for me)
Alright, I guess that's more than I should ask
But, won't you wait for me (Wait for me)
Although I know the light is fading fast

(Interlude)
La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La (x4)

[Verse 3: Daryl Hall]
Love is what it does and ours is doing nothing
But all the time we spent, it must be good for something
Please forgive all the disturbance I'm creating
But you got a lot to learn if you think that I'm not waiting for you

[Hook: Daryl Hall and John Oates]
So, wait for me, please
Wait for me
Oh I, I guess that's more than I should ask
So, won't you wait for me (Wait for me)
Please, wait for me (For me)
Oh God, I know the light is fading fast

[Bridge: Daryl Hall and John Oates]
La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-Later
You've got a lot to learn if you think that I'm not waiting for you

[Hook: Daryl Hall and John Oates]
So, wait for me, please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess that's more than I should ask
So, won't you wait for me (Wait for me)
Please, wait for me (For me)
Oh no, I know the light is fading fast, yes it is

[Outro: Daryl Hall and John Oates]
La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-Later
You've got a lot to learn if you think that I'm not waiting for you

Hall & Oates

Hall & Oates released the first of their 18 albums in 1972 on Atlantic Records. They would go on to sell 13 million albums and 6 million singles primarily during the 70’s and 80’s when they recorded their most prolific and profound music. They blended rock, jazz, soul, and pop create a genre they titled rock and soul.

While their technical musicianship, innovative songwriting styles, and popular live performances were praised, they also had a fruitful partnership with their manager Tommy Mottola, who was helped Hall & Oates break into music videos before they were popular and made profitable financial deals by helping them get on the ground level of and corporate sponsorship of tours. Hall & Oates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
