[Verse 1]
How did I get here?
Think I know what I did
Always worked real hard
Maybe I missed something
I'm not into pointing fingers
Showing who's right or wrong
I just wanna keep it real
'Cause maybe I was doin' fine on my own

[Pre-Chorus]
Listen, I had a career before, now didn't I?
I had lots of friends before, now didn't I?
And I had my fans before, now didn't I?
And I had my family before, now didn't I?
Guess without you
My little life was nothing
But don't sweat it
Let's say we disagree so
Arguing ain't necessary 'cause
We both have our whole lives left to live
We're both consumed with jealousy
But the truth can set you free

[Chorus]
Don't act like you don't know the truth
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
'Cause deep down in your heart you do
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Let it go, ooh child things are gonna get easier
Ooh child, things will be bright 'cause
Truth will set you free

[Verse 2]
Conversation's deep
When you talk to yourself
There's no way to cheat
'Cause you know you can't be no one else
Won't trip out on disappointment
'Cause failure is just not me
Still I gotta do my job
'Cause you know my show can't go on without me

[Pre-Chorus]
Listen, I had a career before, now didn't I?
Sold out around the world before, now didn't I?
I had a few hits before, now didn't I?
And danced until my feet were sore, now didn't I?
Guess without you
Oh, my little life was nothing
But don't sweat it
Let's say we disagree so
Arguing ain't necessary 'cause
We both have our whole lives left to live
Guess we're consumed with jealousy
Yeah, but the truth can set you free

[Chorus]
Don't act like you don't know the truth
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
'Cause deep down in your heart you do
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Let it go, ooh child, things are gonna get easier
Ooh child, things will be bright 'cause
Truth will set you free

[Bridge]
It's hard to believe the love between us is over
It's sad to think we couldn't work it out but
How much is enough to pay for this mistake
Hope your love was sincere

[Chorus]
Don't act like you don't know the truth
(Don't act like you don't know the truth, baby)
'Cause deep down in your heart you do
('Cause deep down in your heart you do, you know you do)
Let it go, ooh child
(Let it go, ooh child)
Things are gonna get easier
(Things are gonna get easier)
Ooh child things will be bright 'cause
(Oooh)
Truth will set you free

[Chorus]
Don't act like you don't know the truth
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
'Cause deep down in your heart you do
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Let it go, ooh child
(Ooh, yeah)
Things are gonna get easier
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Oooh)

[Outro]
Do you know the truth? (Truth)
Feel it, (Yeah)
Live it, (Live it, yeah)
Do you know the truth? (Truth)
Trust it, (Yeah)
Believe it, (Yeah)
Do you know the truth? (Truth)
You want it, (Yeah)
You need it, (Yeah)
Do you know truth? (Truth)
Find it, (Yeah)
Embrace it, (Yeah)
And never let go
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
It'll set you free
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
It'll set you free
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
It'll set you free

Janet Jackson

Janet Damita Jo Jackson is an iconic R&B/pop artist who has sold over 100 million records worldwide and has amassed a number of awards in her illustrious music career.

Born in Gary, Indiana on May 16, 1966, Janet is the youngest of the Jackson family, who rose to prominence a few years after her birth when they signed with Motown Records. Janet joined the family business when she appeared on The Jacksons variety show in 1976, leading to her role as Penny Gordon in Season 5 of the CBS sitcom Good Times. She released two overlooked albums in the early 1980s—Janet Jackson (1982) and Dream Street (1984)—and continued to act during this time, appearing in Diff'rent Strokes and Fame.

The legend of Janet was created after she connected with the legendary Minneapolis production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to work on her seminal third album, Control. Control and her following album, 1989’s Rhythm Nation 1814, featured several #1 pop hits and made her a worldwide superstar. The trio would go on work on Janet’s subsequent hit albums, including janet., The Velvet Rope, as well as her 2015 comeback album, Unbreakable.
