[Verse 1]
Candy coated memories of lookin at the sky a lot
We used to laugh a lot, play a lot, cry a lot
My momma used to sit me down and get her Bible out
Two days straight, teach Revelations to me
Fruits of the spirit, love and patience to me
I used to wonder why she cried when she told me
That nobody in this world but God could console me
"The devil is lurkin in the shadows, so pick your battles
Keep your on eye on the sparrow and walk on the straight and narrow
Cause pride and arrogance will swallow you in Pharaoh's blood
Looks after your sisters, I'm here cause you and Fal' are blood
You never know when thick land could turn to shallow mud
And if the shit hit the fan, the quicksand will lather up"

[Hook]
Where there's no vision, the people perish
So these are the memories I keep and cherish

[Verse 2]
Sunny memories of layin in the grass
My head was spinnin and my heart was beatin fast
I opened up and start relayin you my past
'Una Furtiva Lagrima' was on the box and Merlot was in the glass
I must admit at first I focused on that ass
But then we chilled and had a blast so the waves had to crash
But the titans have to clash
We had a decorated badge, just forgot to pump the gas
Life is a storyboard captured in a polaroid
The memories the jewel cause the camera is cold and void
Like a corpse or C-3PO, the golden droid
Vivid flashbacks will leave you real sad or overjoyed

[Hook]
Where there's no vision, the people perish
So these are the memories I keep and cherish

Jay Electronica

Timothy Elpadaro Thedford (born September 19, 1976), better known by his stage name Jay Electronica, is an American rapper and record producer. He is from New Orleans, Louisiana and currently based in London, United Kingdom.

Electronica first gained significant attention after the release of the musical composition Act Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), which was made available on a MySpace page in 2007 and has been called a “timeless classic” by Vice Magazine. It is fifteen continuous minutes of music, without drums, built from Jon Brion’s soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In late 2009 he released two singles, both produced by Just Blaze, “Exhibit A” and “Exhibit C”, the latter of which won a Sucker Free Summit Award for Instant Classic. In November 2010, it was announced Jay Electronica had signed to hip hop mogul Jay Z’s Roc Nation record label.

More than a decade after his last project, What the Fuck is a Jay Electronica, and almost exactly eight years to the DAY after he reportedly finished and turned in his album, Jay Electronica finally released his debut studio album A Written Testimony on March 13, 2020. The album features Jay-Z on eight of its ten tracks, leading some to label it a collab album between the two Jays. The-Dream also makes three appearances, and even Travis Scott makes a surprising appearance on “The Blinding.”
