[Verse 1]
I can't take it
This is gettin' silly
Can't find me no tranquility anymore
I just can't get through to you
We're fakin' it, it's time to admit it
You make me feel like an idiot all the time
There's nothin' left for me to do
No, so

[Chorus]
I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you

[Verse 2]
We were friends but now you're the enemy
Don't need this when there's a remedy, it's the end
Play your trick on someone new

[Chorus]
I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you

[Bridge]
Ain't life strange?
How people change
You were all I wanted once
Now you're just a pain, pain

[Chorus]
I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna run away
I'm never comin' back to you

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
