Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh

Everybody's talkin but it doesn't mean a lot
How they always judge ya by all the things ya got
If dreams can be remembered why should words be ignored
Need a new direction something to work toward

So much is happenin' overwhelming me

All I can do all I can say
I'm gonna stay right in the middle
Pulled to the left pulled to the right
I'm always stuck right in the middle

Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh

I had a chance to make some trouble
Had a chance to make it right
Everyday becomes a struggle
And it keeps me up all night

So much is happening overwhelming me

All I can do all I can say
I'm gonna stay right in the middle
Pulled to the left pulled to the right
I'm always stuck right in the middle
Stuck right in the middle

Whoa
Sometimes I feel like I been forgotten
And brushed aside
But I don't really care
So I ain't gonna break my stride

All I can do all I can say
I'm gonna stay right in the middle
Pulled to the left pulled to the right I think
I think I'll stick right in the middle
Stick right in the middle

Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
