Everybody's reading the book
About the boy from Bethlehem
Story of a kid who would change
The world with the palm of his hand
So bring me some toast before you go

Because I'm beginning to see that the story is quite okay
Cuz I've seen movies, and I wear the shirts
But what does this story really say
From my love didn't come from fantasy
Or to play glamorous roles, for the

Company man that we've all made him out to be
Is not what the story has told

So entertain me if you want to
But I've heard it all
If you feel the need to say more than what's been said
But I'm sure Love can stand on His own
But I'm sure Love can stand on His own

Still she sings her top 20
About the boy she doesn't even know
Written by a man they call money
He's winning birds while saving souls
It's of the man, the marketing plans
And a new Mercedes for his 17 year old wife

He's really diggin' on the girl with the top 20
Ain't it funny
For my Love didn't come to win Grammys
Or to be the king of rock n' roll, for the

Company man that we've all made him out to be
Is not what the story has told

So entertain me if you want to
But I've heard it all
If you feel the need to say more than what's been said
But I'm sure Love can stand on His own
Oooh, entertain me if you want to
I'm sure Love can stand on His own
I'm sure Love can stand on His own
Love can stand on His own

So turn your eyes from the glow
And remember the Son

Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth “Katy” Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, businesswoman, philanthropist, and actress. She was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. Having had very little exposure to mainstream pop music in her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teen and released her debut self-titled studio album in 2001. She also recorded a second solo album in 2005, (A) Katy Perry, which was scrapped.

Afterwards, Perry (her mother’s maiden name, taken to avert confusion with Kate Hudson) reinvented herself as a party girl pop star, breaking out with 2008’s One of the Boys and the #1 hits “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot n Cold”.

Follow-up Teenage Dream (2010) equalled Michael Jackson’s record of five chart-toppers on the same album, and made Perry even more ubiquotous in the pop landscape. Following her marriage and eventual divorce from British comedian Russell Brand, she released an updated version, Teenage The Complete Confection and concert film Katy Part of Me in 2012. She released her fourth album, Prism, in 2013, along with some standalone singles, such as “Rise”.
