Oh the sun's coming through little cracks in the shade
Take a long look at you and I'm still amazed
You're the king of my heart, you're the spark in my eyes
I was straight out of luck 'til you saved my life

So hold me close like there ain't no heaven
Let the light you shine, cover and fill every empty place
I have been broken, let your love linger
Until I'm still warmed by the thrill

There's a dew on the grass and a mist on the hill
Will I always be there? Yeah, baby, I will
In this tattered old world where there ain't nothin' new
Baby, I turned around, found an angel like you

So hold me close like there ain't no heaven
Let the light you shine, cover and fill every empty place
I have been broken, let your love linger
Until I'm still warmed by the thrill

Carnes' self-titled second album primarily contained self-penned songs, including her first charting single “You’re a Part of Me”, which reached No. 35 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 1975. In the following year, Carnes released Sailin', which featured “Love Comes from Unexpected Places”. The song won the American Song Festival and the award for Best Composition at the Tokyo Song Festival in 1976.
