Today I saw somebody who looked just like you
He walked like you do, I thought it was you
As he turned the corner, I called out your name
I felt so ashamed 'cause it wasn't you, wasn't you

You are everything
And everything is you
Oh you are everything
And everything is you
Oh you are everything
And everything is you

How can I forget when each face that I see
Brings back memories of being with you?
I just can't go on living life as I do
Comparing each one with you
'Cause they just won't do, they're not you

You are everything
And everything is you
Oh you are everything
And everything is you
Oh you are everything
And everything is you

Carnes' self-titled second album primarily contained self-penned songs, including her first charting single “You’re a Part of Me”, which reached No. 35 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 1975. In the following year, Carnes released Sailin', which featured “Love Comes from Unexpected Places”. The song won the American Song Festival and the award for Best Composition at the Tokyo Song Festival in 1976.
