I remember seventeen
Young in love and chasing a dream
We said we would last forever
Life would offer no guarantees
Time would promise no certainties
The only thing for sure was you and me

Hey, baby
You are the meaning of friend
Hey, sugar
You've been true till the end

Years leave a path of history
Weaving stories of intimacy
Telling tales about you and me, together
We’ve been through some cloudy days
I can't tell you in enough ways
When things were gray, you gave me hope, for better

And love, love that you know
That you are living as the wind it calls
It's the very seed that fills life to us all
And you, you define the word
The word "giving", love without bounds
And time upon time, you never let me down

Hey, baby
You are the meaning of friend
Hey, sugar
You have been true till the end

Every change that I’ve been through
Has dragged you along too
I'm sure it wasn't easy for you
Here we are at the threshold of night
The intensity feels so right
The dream at seventeen came true alright, alright

Hey, baby
You are the meaning of friend
Hey, sugar
You've been true till the end

Hey, baby
You are the meaning of friend
Hey, sugar
You've been true till the end

Kool & the Gang

Kool & the Gang is an American jazz, R&B, soul, funk, and disco group from Jersey City. They were originally named the Jazziacs when they formed the group in 1964.

They went through several musical phases during their recording career, starting out with a purist jazz sound, then funk and R&B, progressing to a smooth pop-funk ensemble, and in the post-millennium creating music with a modern, electro-pop sound.

The group was becoming prominent in the music industry in the 1970s with hits such as “Holly Wood Swinging”, “Jungle Boogie” and “Summer Madness”. However they cemented their legendary status after the addition of lead vocalist James “J.T.” Taylor. With his help they went on to create classic hits such as “Ladies Night”, “Celebration”, “Get Down On It”, “Cherish” and countless others.
