[Instrumental Intro]

[Verse 1]
Anybody searching for action
Anything to fill the emptiness inside
Any place that the streets are empty
Any takers wanna pour out their lives
With fire and lighting shooting from my hand
And desolation written across my eyes
My itchy finger on hairpin trigger
My tempers hot and my patience's taken flight

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 2]
Inside the abattoir
The cover charge is somebody's gotta die
Now, I hear you screaming out for mercy
Last man that's standing wins the fight
Too late, I see your end zero in on you
Even mortal enemies they can't deny
Let me help you up again
The wings of God surround me
I live to play because i know I'll never die

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 3]
If I win again, I'm still the champion
And if you win, that's just impossible
I don't play for keeps; i don't play for your soul
I don't play to win; I don't play for it all
I play for blood

[Instrumental Break]

[Outro]
I don't play for keeps, I play for blood
I don't play for your soul, I play for blood
I don't play to win, I play for blood
I don't play for it all, I play for blood
I play for blood

Megadeth

After being kicked out of Metallica, Dave Mustaine decided to form a Thrash Metal band that not only rivaled his former band, but played faster, more technical Metal. Along with bassist David ‘Junior’ Ellefson and a revolving door of guitarists and drummers, Mustaine set the world afire as Megadeth became known as the world’s state-of-the-art Speed Metal band throughout the 80s and the early 90s. One of the Big Four of Thrash Metal, Megadeth remains one of Metal’s most popular acts today.

However, Dave Mustaine’s fledgling band got off to a shaky start. Initially unable to find like-minded individuals, it was not until an altercation with his (underage) downstairs neighbours Dave Ellefson and Greg Handevidt, that led to him buying them beer and forming the first incarnation of the band with drummer Dijon Carruthers in 1983.

The band was named after a political pamphlet that referred to a “megadeath” (one million deaths by nuclear explosion):
