[Intro: Pebbles, Cherrelle]
Cherrelle
(Yes, Pebbs?)
Have you ever loved someone so much
That you could feel it deep down in your soul?
(Girl, I truly have)
Well, this is how I feel about the one I love
Let's sing it together
Always

[Verse 1: Pebbles]
Boy
I never knew a love like you before
You came into my life and gave me more
You are my friend
Also my man
And I'll love you always

You
You just don't know
What you've done for me
You gave me love and now I'm complete
You are the sun (You are the sun)
The only one (The only one)
And I'll love you always

[Chorus: Pebbles & Cherrelle]
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always
(Love you always)
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always
(I'll love you always)

[Verse 2: Pebbles]
I
Wish I had known that you'd come for me
I was a soul that was lost and incomplete
You were my friend (You were my friend)
And now you're my man (My man)
And I want you always

I
I just don't know what came over me (Boy)
You touched my soul and let me feel free
Always be there
And baby, don't be scared (Don't be scared)
Cause I'll love ya always
Baby, always

[Chorus: Pebbles & Cherrelle]
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always
(Love you always)
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always

[Bridge: Pebbles]
My friend
You're my man
I do, I do, I do, I do, I do
I do love you

[Verse 3: Pebbles with Johnny Gill, Johnny]
You
You should know now that I'd never leave you
When I've searched the land and now I've found you
(You are my girl) You are my man
(I am your man) My only man
And I'll love you always
Always

[Chorus: Pebbles & Cherrelle]
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always
(Love you always)
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always
(Love you always)
Baby, don't leave me
Don't ever desert me
I'll promise my life to you
And I'll love you always

[Outro: Pebbles]
Baby, don't ever leave
Don't ever leave me, please
I promise unselfishly
To love you always
Baby, don't ever go
Don't ever leave me, no
All the things that we've been through
Still love you always
(Baby) Don't you ever go
(Don't ever) Never leave you, no
(I promise) You must stay always
And I'll love you
(Baby) Don't you ever go (Don't you ever go)
Don't you ever go
(Don't ever) Never leave you, no
(I promise) You must stay always
And I'll love you always
Baby, don't ever leave
Don't ever leave me, please
I promise unselfishly
To love you always
Baby, don't ever go
Don't ever leave me, no
All the things that we've been through
Still love you always
(Baby) Don't you ever go
(Don't ever) Never leave you, no
(I promise) You must stay always

Pebbles

Pebbles (born Perri McKissack on August 29, 1964) is a singer-songwriter from the Bay Area. She got her start as a back-up singer for the Vallejo-based group Con Funk Shun in the early 1980s before breaking through with her self-titled debut album in 1987. Her first big single from the album was the L.A. Reid & Babyface-produced hit “Girlfriend,” which hit #1 on the R&B Singles chart and peaked at #5 on the pop chart. She followed that up with her biggest single “Mercedes Boy,” which also topped the R&B Singles chart while peaking at #2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 & Dance charts.

Her 1990 sophomore album Always was primarily written and produced by L.A. & Face. The album featured the #1 R&B singles “Giving You the Benefit” and her duet with Babyface “Love Makes Things Happen” as well as the Top 5 R&B hit “Backyard” with Salt-N-Pepa. On a personal note, R&B singer Cherrelle is her cousin and she was featured on the title track along with Johnny Gill.

Prior to the release of Always, Pebbles and L.A. Reid married in 1989. Following the release of that album, she began managing TLC under her Pebbitone company while they signed to LaFace Records. TLC filed for bankruptcy in 1995 and cited mismanagement by Pebbles as a source of their financial issues. This situation took a toll on her marriage to L.A. Reid and he filed for divorced the same year.
