Riccardo Cocciante

Riccardo Vincent Cocciante (Saigon, 20 febbraio 1946) è un cantautore e compositore italo-francese. Noto in Francia come Richard Cocciante, nella sua carriera ha cantato in italiano, francese, inglese e spagnolo.

Nato in Vietnam da padre italiano, originario di Rocca di Mezzo (AQ), e da madre francese, a undici anni si trasferisce con la famiglia a Roma, dove inizia ad esibirsi con il suo gruppo, i Nations, cantando brani in inglese. Nel 1968 debutta con lo pseudonimo Ricky Conte, incidendo un singolo che però passa inosservato. In seguito utilizza i Riccardo Conte e Richard Cocciante, prima di scegliere il definitivo Riccardo Cocciante poco tempo dopo aver firmato per la RCA Italiana, per la quale pubblica nel 1972 il suo album d'esordio Mu.

Il successo arriva due anni dopo con l'album Anima, trainato dal singolo “Bella Senz'Anima”, e si amplifica nel 1976 con l'album Concerto Per Margherita, da cui è tratto il brano “Margherita”.
