Phone keeps ringin' right off the hook
Some bill collecter I know I cussed
I think I'll stay in bed and dream all day
The world outside bugs me anyway
When I get things going the going gets rough
So I ask myself why get up?

Why get up? Why get up?
How can I get up?
Why should I get up?
This whole worlds gone crazy, Think I've seen enough
I'm gonna sleep forever - why get up?

I went to the doctor He said loose some weight
And if you don't do it quick we got to amputate
I talked to my lawyer he said case is closed
That woman got it all even the garden hose
I'm starin' at the ceiling thinking just my luck
I think I'll roll back on over - why get up ?

Why get up? Why get up?
How can I get up?
Why should I get up?
This whole worlds gone crazy, Think I've seen enough
I'm gonna sleep forever - why get up?

Well I can't quit tickin' - I'm nervous all the time
When I wake up these nights, it's turnin' round in my mind
What was it I said to that girl last night
She really got upset I better stay out of sight
I remember the gun and someone calling my bluff
I better duck undercover - why get up ?

Why get up, why get up
How can I get up
Why should I get up
This whole worlds gone crazy think I've seen enough
Think I'll roll back on over why get up

Robert Palmer

Robert Allen Palmer (19 January 1949 – 26 September 2003) was an English singer-songwriter[1] and musician. He was known for his distinctive soulful voice, eclectic mix of musical styles on his albums, combining soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae and blues and sartorial acumen. He found success both in his solo career and with the Power Station, and had Top 10 songs in both the UK and the US.

His iconic music videos directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan for the hits “Addicted to Love” and “Simply Irresistible” featured identically dressed dancing women with pale faces, dark eye makeup and bright red lipstick, which resembled the women in the art of Patrick Nagel, an artist popular in the 1980s. Palmer’s involvement in the music industry commenced in the 1960s, covered four decades and included a spell with Vinegar Joe.
