[Verse 1]
A child is born in the world tonight
Underneath the full moonlight
And on the highway a fire starts
Diesel engines and broken hearts

[Chorus]
The girls wanna dance, the boys wanna fight
Gonna get rocking in the world tonight
Black cat howls, the mad dog bites
Something gonna happen in the world tonight

[Verse 2]
Up in Heaven the starts align
Stirring up the world tonight
In the jungle the power's strong
And tribes are restless all night long, all night long

[Chorus]
Ohhh, girls wanna dance, boys wanna fight
Gonna get rocking in the world tonight
Tension's rising, you can cut it with a knife
Sticky situation in the world tonight, the world tonight
Big moon staring at the world tonight

[Verse 3]
Young blood run free
You could be anything you wanna be
Young blood run wild
You've got the will of a king and the heart of a child

[Bridge]
Yeah, so give me a beat 'cause here I come
Tonight's the night I'm gonna bang my drum
Got a million watts on the tip of my tongue
Feel like a trigger on a loaded gun
Crank up the station (crank up to station)
Shake the foundation (shake the foundation)
Wake up the nation
We got a situation, here
Someone's got a button
Connected to a bomb
And it don't matter whose side you're on
They can have it all back by the morning light
All we want is the world tonight

[Chorus]
Girls wanna dance, boys wanna fight
Gonna get rocking in the world tonight
Read all about it in black and white
Everybody gone crazy in the world tonight
In the world tonight

[Outro]
World tonight, world tonight (all right)
World tonight (it's gonna get rocking)
World tonight (in the world tonight)
World tonight (something's gonna happen)
World tonight (in the world tonight)
World tonight (all right)
World tonight, world tonight
World tonight, world tonight
World tonight, world tonight
World tonight, world tonight
World tonight, world tonight

Styx

Styx is a rock band from Chicago formed in 1970. They enjoyed great success with pop rock and hard rock songs, and became famous for their power ballads and album releases of the mid 1970s and early 80s.

The band has gone through some famously nasty internal struggles, drug problems, illnesses and deaths, but continues to perform today (with a significantly altered line-up). Tommy Shaw, from Montgomery, AL, left but returned to the band. Drummer John Panozzo developed a debilitating drinking problem and ultimately died. Dennis DeYoung developed an acute case of photosensitivity, and he left the band. They fought among themselves for control of the band name. Glen Burtnik also left and returned, this time on bass, to replace Chuck Panozzo (John’s brother), who had also left the band. (whew.)
