[Verse 1]
I remember the night
I was singing to you
By the light of the TV
We had a bed on the floor
I couldn't give you much more
When you said, "This is all that I need"
All the darkest nights
All the broken dreams
Fade away when I'm with you
We fill the empty space
Burn the memories
Kiss it goodbye forever tonight

[Chorus]
When the world breaks your heart
I can put it back together
Write your name across the sky
So i'm always with you
Now it's you and me
Like the stars we burn forever
So listen when I say to you
I'll be there, you're not alone

[Verse 2]
I held your face in my hands
So i could feel you smile
Every time that i kiss you
You put your lips to my scars
Made a tattoo of stars
I felt the rush of blood and I knew
I'd never answer to
Anybody who
Tried to tear us down again
So take the angry words
The things that make you hurt
Kiss them goodbye forever tonight

[Chorus]
When the world breaks your heart
I can put it back together
Write your name across the sky
So i'm always with you
Now it's you and me
Like the stars we burn forever
So listen when I say to you
I'll be there, you're not alone
You're not alone

[Bridge]
When the sun fades into shadows
When you call and no one's there
And the light goes out inside you
Don't you know that I'll be there

[Chorus]
When the world breaks your heart
I can put it back together
Write your name across the sky
So i'm always with you
Now it's you and me
Like the stars we burn forever
So listen when I say to you
I'll be there, you're not alone
You're not alone

[Outro]
When the sun turns into shadows
When you call and no one's there
And the lights go out inside you
I'll be there, you're not alone
You're not alone

The Goo Goo Dolls

The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, NY, during one of Buffalo’s most prolific underground music phases. The band was formed by John Rzeznik (Also known as Johnny Rzeznik), lead singer and songwriter for the band, with bassist/vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska. Mike Malinin later replaced Tutuska as the band’s drummer.

The band has released twelve studio albums between 1986 and 2017, but they are best known for platinum-selling A Boy Named Goo (1995) and Dizzy Up the Girl (1998). These mid- to late 1990s albums contain the Goo Goo Dolls' biggest hits to date – Name and Iris most notably, but also Slide, Black Balloon, and Dizzy

These hits made the Goo Goo Dolls a household name for radio-friendly “prom night power balladry” (as one Rolling Stone review put it), but the band’s early output was often far rougher musically, melding the band’s edgier punk influences with an often soft sensibility in the mold of the band’s early heroes, The Replacements. One can hear these influences on many songs on A Boy Named Goo though these affinities would fade after Dizzy Up the Girl.
