[Verse 1]
I, I've been on my own
Wasting too much time
Trying to find the light
The switch inside my mind
It's hard to know what's real
The truth or just a feeling
But I can't tell from here

[Pre-Chorus]
Now I gotta wake up
I'm feeling like a stranger
All that I can hear is noise
And I was barely breathing
I'm gonna break through the ceiling
Now you gonna hear my voice

[Chorus]
You can not define me
You will never blind me
Or take the truth away from me again
Oh and I'm still trying to find me
Put you all behind me
I'll decide just who the hell I am
I'm just a man
That's all I am
That's all I am

[Verse 2]
The future and the past
Are falling through our hands
And all we have is now
So take me as I am
Cause it ain't easy
I know you see me
No I'm not ashamed to show you
Who I really am

[Pre-Chorus]
Now I finally wake up
And I don't see a stranger
I remember who I was
And I was barely breathing
Now I'm breaking through the ceiling
Yea you gonna hear my voice

[Chorus]
You can not define me
You will never blind me
Or take the truth away from me again
Oh and I'm still trying to find me
Put you all behind me
I'll decide just who the hell I am
I'm just a man
That's all I am
I'm just a man
That's all I am

[Chorus]
You can not define me
You will never blind me
Or take the truth away from me again
Oh and I'm still trying to find me
Put you all behind me
I'll decide just who the hell I am
I'm just a man
(You can not define me)
(You will never blind me)
That's all I am
(Or take the truth away from me again)
I'm just a man
(I'm still trying to find me)
(Put you all behind me)
I'll decide just who the hell I am
I'm just a man

The Goo Goo Dolls

The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, NY, during one of Buffalo’s most prolific underground music phases. The band was formed by John Rzeznik (Also known as Johnny Rzeznik), lead singer and songwriter for the band, with bassist/vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska. Mike Malinin later replaced Tutuska as the band’s drummer.

The band has released twelve studio albums between 1986 and 2017, but they are best known for platinum-selling A Boy Named Goo (1995) and Dizzy Up the Girl (1998). These mid- to late 1990s albums contain the Goo Goo Dolls' biggest hits to date – Name and Iris most notably, but also Slide, Black Balloon, and Dizzy

These hits made the Goo Goo Dolls a household name for radio-friendly “prom night power balladry” (as one Rolling Stone review put it), but the band’s early output was often far rougher musically, melding the band’s edgier punk influences with an often soft sensibility in the mold of the band’s early heroes, The Replacements. One can hear these influences on many songs on A Boy Named Goo though these affinities would fade after Dizzy Up the Girl.
