[Intro: Jermaine Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
You know, girl, every time I hum that little tune
It reminds me so much of you
I mean, all the days we spent together
When we were so in love
All I had was you
You, you, you, you, you, hmm, mmm
But you see, I'm all alone now
I need someone to come home to
And that's why I want that person to be you
I gotta be so close, so close
Closer, closer, closer, hmm (To you)
And when I get up on you, I wanna hug you (Get closer)
And squeeze you (Get closer)
And kiss you (Get closer, get closer)
I wanna be yours (Closer to you)
You, you, you, you, you (Closer to you)

[Verse 1: Jermaine Jackson]
You're my love, you're my angel
You're the girl of my dreams
I'd like to thank you for waiting patiently, yeah

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & The Jacksons]
Daddy's home
Your daddy's home to stay, yeah, yeah

[Verse 2: Jermaine Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
How I've waited for this moment
To be by your side (To be by your side)
Your best friend wrote and told me (That)
You had teardrops in your eyes, yeah

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & The Jacksons]
Daddy's home
Daddy's home to stay

[Bridge: Jermaine Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
It wasn't on a Sunday (Monday and Tuesday went by)
It wasn't on a Tuesday afternoon (All I could do was cry)
But I made a promise that you treasured, yeah
(Shoop, shoo-wop)
I made it back home to you

[Verse 3: Jermaine Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
How I've waited for this moment
To be by your side (To be by your side)
Your best friend wrote and told me
You had teardrops, teardrops in your eyes

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
Daddy's home
Your daddy's home to stay, yeah, yeah yeah
(Daddy's home to stay)
I'm not a thousand miles away, no, no, yeah
(Daddy's home to stay)
I'm gonna be here come what may, come what may
(Daddy's home to stay)

[Outro: Jermaine Jackson & Michael Jackson]
I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna stay, yeah
(I'm gonna be by your side)
Stay, stay, yeah yeah yeah

The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 were originally formed in 1963 under the name, The Jackson Brothers. The founding members were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. Michael would join the group as the lead singer a year later, a move which pushed Jermaine to sing the backing vocals and play the lead guitar.

After participating in a series of talent shows, they entered the professional music scene in 1967, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing ten singles. In 1969, they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown.

In 1975, most of the Jacksons had opted out of recording any more music for Motown, expressing desires to have creative control over their songs, as well as royalties. Learning that they were earning only 2.8% of royalties from Motown, Joe Jackson, the father and manager of the group, began to negotiate a lucrative contract with Epic records, which offered a royalty rate of 20% per record. The deal was completed in June 1975. As Motown owned the name The Jackson 5, the group simply renamed themselves The Jacksons.
