[Verse 1: Jermaine Jackson]
Girl, you walk around
With your head up in the sky
Yes you do, now
'Cause you hurt so many before
And never had to cry, no
But you better stop, honey
And realize, yeah
'Cause one day soon
You're gonna have to be penalized
Oh

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & The Jackson 5]
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow, now now, baby
You'll get those tears and run free
Happen to you, like it's happened to me, baby
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow
You'll get those tears and run free
It's gonna happen to you
Just like it's happen to me, girl

[Verse 2: Jermaine Jackson]
Because you made me cry
You think you're the baddest of them all, yeah
Well, I hope I'm around, my dear
When he sets you free and you fall, yeah
Then you'll find it's not such a laugh
When tears run 'til you can't see, no no no
Your heartaches are gonna come
And so is your misery, ah yeah

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & The Jackson 5]
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow, now now, baby
You'll get those tears and run free
Happen to you like it's happened to me, baby
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow
You'll get those tears and run free
It's gonna happen to you
Just like it's happen to me, girl

[Bridge: Jermaine Jackson & The Jacksons]
Ooh, everybody clap your hands
Na, na, na, na, na, na
(Oh baby, oh baby, oh baby, baby)
Na, na, na, na, na, na
(Oh baby, oh baby, oh baby, baby)
Well, well, come on help me sing it

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & The Jackson 5]
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow
You'll get those tears and run free
Happen to you like it's happened to me, baby
\That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow
You'll get those tears and run free
Happen to you like it's happened to me, baby

[Interlude over Chorus: Jermaine Jackson]
Girl, you better stop
And take a real good look at yourself, baby
'Cause when those heartaches find you, child
You're gonna wish you were somebody else
Oh, that smile that you're wearing
Is gonna turn to a frown, yeah
You find someone that you love
And he's gonna put you down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down
Oh ho ho, that's how it goes, baby

[Chorus: Jermaine Jackson & The Jackson 5]
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow, now now, baby
You'll get those tears and run free
Happen to you just like it's happened to me, baby
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow
You'll get those tears and run free
Happen to you just like it's happened to me, baby
That's how love goes
You gotta reap just what you sow
You'll get those tears and run free
It's gonna happen to you like it's happened to me

[Outro: Jermaine Jackson]
Thank you

The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 were originally formed in 1963 under the name, The Jackson Brothers. The founding members were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. Michael would join the group as the lead singer a year later, a move which pushed Jermaine to sing the backing vocals and play the lead guitar.

After participating in a series of talent shows, they entered the professional music scene in 1967, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing ten singles. In 1969, they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown.

In 1975, most of the Jacksons had opted out of recording any more music for Motown, expressing desires to have creative control over their songs, as well as royalties. Learning that they were earning only 2.8% of royalties from Motown, Joe Jackson, the father and manager of the group, began to negotiate a lucrative contract with Epic records, which offered a royalty rate of 20% per record. The deal was completed in June 1975. As Motown owned the name The Jackson 5, the group simply renamed themselves The Jacksons.
