[Verse 1: Michael Jackson]
You know, the landlord rang my front door bell
I let it ring for a long, long spell
I went to the window, I peeped through the blind
And asked him to tell me what was on his mind
He said

[Chorus: The Jackson 5 & Michael Jackson]
Money, honey (Ah yeah yeah)
Money, honey (Na na na yeah yeah)
Money, honey
If you wanna get along with me

[Verse 2: Michael Jackson]
Well, I screamed and I screamed and was so hard-pressed
I called the woman that I loved the best
I finally got my baby about half past three
She said I'd like to know what you want with me
I said

[Chorus: The Jackson 5 & Michael Jackson]
Money, honey (Ah yeah yeah)
Money, honey (Na na na yeah yeah yeah)
Money, honey
If you wanna get along with me

[Verse 3: Michael Jackson]
This dame had said, "What's wrong with you?"
From this day on our romance is through
I said, "Tell me, baby, face to face
How could another man take my place?"
She said

[Chorus: The Jackson 5 & Michael Jackson]
Money, honey (Ah yeah yeah)
Money, honey (Na na na yeah yeah)
Money, honey
If you wanna get along with me

[Bridge: The Jackson 5]
Money, honey, hoo
Money, honey, hoo
Money, honey, hoo, hoo

[Chorus: The Jackson 5 & Michael Jackson]
Money, honey (Ah yeah yeah)
Money, honey (Na na na yeah yeah)
Money, honey
If you wanna get along with me

[Verse 4: Michael Jackson]
I've learned my lesson and I know, I know
The sun may shine and the winds may blow
The women come and the women may go
But before I say I love you so
I want

[Chorus: The Jackson 5 & Michael Jackson]
Money, honey (Ah yeah yeah)
Money, honey (Na na na na, yeah yeah)
Money, honey
If you wanna get along with me

[Outro: Michael Jackson & The Jackson 5]
I ain't jivin', honey
(If you wanna get along with me)
Better give up some of that money
(If you wanna get along with me)
Give up
(If you wanna get along with me)
Give up some of that money, yeah
(If you wanna get along with me)
Ah yeah yeah

The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 were originally formed in 1963 under the name, The Jackson Brothers. The founding members were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. Michael would join the group as the lead singer a year later, a move which pushed Jermaine to sing the backing vocals and play the lead guitar.

After participating in a series of talent shows, they entered the professional music scene in 1967, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing ten singles. In 1969, they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown.

In 1975, most of the Jacksons had opted out of recording any more music for Motown, expressing desires to have creative control over their songs, as well as royalties. Learning that they were earning only 2.8% of royalties from Motown, Joe Jackson, the father and manager of the group, began to negotiate a lucrative contract with Epic records, which offered a royalty rate of 20% per record. The deal was completed in June 1975. As Motown owned the name The Jackson 5, the group simply renamed themselves The Jacksons.
