[Verse 1]
It was a filthy block of flats, trash was on the floor
A stink was in my nose, hinges off the doors
She took me in her room, all was spic and span
Fixed me up a drink, turned down all the lamps

[Chorus]
And the rain fell down
On the cold, hard ground
And the phone kept ringing
And we made sweet love

[Verse 2]
Why do we live in this strange grey town?
They build it up and let it all fall down
Feel like we're living in a battleground
Everybody's jazzed
Why do we live in this strange grey town?
The paint is peeling and the sky turned brown
The bankers are wankers, every Thursday night
They just vomit on that ground

[Chorus]
And the rain fell down
On the cold, grey town
And the phone kept ringing
And we made sweet love
And we made sweet love

[Bridge]
Everybody's dreaming
Everybody's scheming
Watching the rain fall down

[Verse 3]
She cooked me up some eggs, then she made some tea
Kissed me on the cheek and I turned on her TV
It was all the usual crap, all the usual sleaze
For ten thousand quid, some bimbo spilled the beans, yeah

[Chorus]
And the rain fell down
On the cold, wet town
And the phone kept ringing
And we made sweet love
And we made sweet love

[Outro]
Yeah, and the rain fell down
And we made, and we made
And we made sweet love, yeah
And the phone kept, and the phone kept ringing
Yeah, mmm, ah, yeah
And the phone kept ringing
The phone kept ringing, yeah
And the rain (Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain)

The Rolling Stones

Formed in London in 1962, The Rolling Stones led the “British Invasion” along with The Beatles and were so successful their influence can be seen in arguably every rock ‘n’ roll band that followed.

Three of the current members have been there since the band’s singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, who write the majority of the band’s catalogue and also produced some albums as The Glimmer Twins; and drummer Charlie Watts. The fourth official member is guitarist Ronnie Wood, who has been there since 1975 (the keyboardist and bassist who play in studio and live are usually not listed). The Stones have released more than 20 studio albums, and even as age caught up on them, continued to be a huge attraction on the live circuit, with big stadium tours continuing through the 1990s, 2000s and into the 2010s.
