[Intro]
Boy, you drive me crazy
Hoo-ooh ooh, ooh, yeah

[Verse 1]
You sure got a lot of nerve
The way you take your sweet time
All around me like you're work of art
Who said you know me so good
You're a dangerous angel
Should have seen right from the start
Still I'd never change you
Anyway

[Chorus]
You've got me dancin' on the smooth edge
You've got me dancin' on the smooth edge
Hearts on fire, filled with desire
And I'm waiting for the words you say
On the smooth edge
On the smooth, smooth edge

[Verse 2]
So funny how the night just slips on by
In a long slow dance with you (Slow dance with you)
Crazy how you keep on leading me, boy
To a place beyond taboo
You're a cool persuader (Cool persuader)
Hey, don't you, don't you, don't you have no shame (Shame)
Still I'm gonna take you
Anyway

[Chorus]
You've got me dancin' on the smooth edge
You've got me dancin' on the smooth edge
Hearts on fire, filled with desire
And I'm reaching for your every move
Dancin' on the smooth edge
On the smooth edge
Smooth edge, smooth edge

[Bridge]
Ooh, ooh
(You are an angel)
You're an angel, yes you are
(Ooh, you're an angel)

[Chorus]
You've got me dancin' on the smooth edge
You've got me dancin' on the smooth edge
Hearts on fire, filled with desire
And I'm deeper, deeper in love with you
Dancin' on the smooth edge
On the smooth edge
Smooth edge, smooth edge

[Outro]
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
I wanna, I wanna dance with you
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
Dancin', dancin' with you
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
Hoo hoo hoo hoo, you
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
You, ooh
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
Dancin' with you, baby
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
All I wanna do, all I wanna do with you, boy
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
You know, you know, you know I wanna dance with you
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
Hey, hey, I wanna, I wanna dance with you, you know you do
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
I wanna, you wanna, I wanna, ooh
(Dancin' on the smooth edge)
Oh, hey, hey, with you, oh, with you, you

Whitney Houston

Known across the pop culture spectrum as the “Queen of Pop” and “The Voice” for her mezzo-soprano octave, Whitney Elizabeth Houston left an indelible impression upon pop culture. She is one of the most successful artists of all time, with more than 200 million albums sold worldwide.

Born August 9, 1963, Houston grew up singing as part of the gospel choir at her local church. She was surrounded by powerful voices in her own family (mother Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick, godmother Darlene Love, honorary aunt Aretha Franklin). After working as a model and commercial actress in the early 1980s, Whitney was discovered during a New York City nightclub performance, which led to her signing a contract with Clive Davis at Arista Records. Whitney’s first song was a duet in 1984 with Teddy Pendergrass on “Hold Me.”

She released her self-titled début album the following year, which catapulted her into superstardom as the album topped the Billboard 200 for 14 non-consecutive weeks before becoming the top-selling album of 1986, eventually achieving diamond status in the US and selling over 22 million copies worldwide. The singles “Saving All My Love For You,” “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum status. The music video for “How Will I Know” received heavy rotation on MTV, which was uncommon for Black women at the time. She took home the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award for “Saving” in 1986; her performance at the Grammys of “Saving” later won her an Emmy award. She also won seven American Music Awards between 1986 and 1987.
