[Intro: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be, yeah

[Verse 1: Aretha Franklin]
You've been hanging 'round my boyfriend
You've been sayin' that he's sweet, yeah
Girl, I know that you've been talking
Because the talk is on the street
You say that you are gonna steal his heart
Well, sweetie, you ain't gonna get that far
You're after somethin' that don't belong to you
Well, girlfriend, I've got news for you
What are you trying to say, Miss Thang? Huh

[Chorus: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never, ever, never, never, never gonna be your man

[Verse 2: Whitney Houston]
Well, I just ain't the kind of woman
To pick the fruit off of your tree, girl
And you keep saying that he's your man
But that ain't what he said to me
He blows me kisses as he drives away
He sends me roses in the middle of the day, yeah
You think it's you that he's thinking of
But I'm the one that he really, really loves, girl
So what am I trying to say? Don't diss me, girl!

[Chorus: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never, ever, never, never, never, never gonna be, you'll see
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
Oh, it isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never, ever, never, never, never gonna be your man, girl

[Bridge: Aretha, Whitney, Both]
What are you doin', layin' and hangin' back?
Don't you know it, girl?
Hmm, just as I suspected
You been talkin' that la la, that ya ya, and that nah nah nah nah
But the man is mine, hey!

He blows me kisses as he drives away
He sends me flowers in the middle of the day, yeah
You think it's you that he's thinking of
I know I'm the one that he really, really, really loves
What am I trying to say, Miss It?
What are you trying to say?
Get real!

[Chorus: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never (No), ever (No), never (No), never (No), never (No)
Never gonna be, you'll see
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
Oh, it isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never (No), ever (No), never (No), never (No), never gonna be your man, girl
Be your man

[Scatting]

[Outro: Aretha & Whitney]
So now what is this?
Well, you know
That my man is supposed to be interested in you?
What can I say?
You know, I realize that you're under pressure
Yes, I am
And that you are suffering from delusions, but uh
Well
Don't be ridiculous
I'm not
Get real!
You better get real! You know the deal
He told me he loves me and that I'm just his forever
Uh huh, forever?
Forever
Must have played out about 20 years ago
Now, check this out: Your man is not my man!
This is true!
Uh huh
This is true
Now, every king has his queen
Yes
And I love my role being his queen
Yes
And I hope you like yours, too
Well, I'm his princess
Whatever that is...
Wait a minute, wait
Come on now...
Okay...well, he said that I'm his princess
You might be his queen, but I'm his princess
Yeah, well, I like being the queen myself
Well, you know that's what you are
Shut up! *laughs* Shut up!
Oh, this is funny

Whitney Houston

Known across the pop culture spectrum as the “Queen of Pop” and “The Voice” for her mezzo-soprano octave, Whitney Elizabeth Houston left an indelible impression upon pop culture. She is one of the most successful artists of all time, with more than 200 million albums sold worldwide.

Born August 9, 1963, Houston grew up singing as part of the gospel choir at her local church. She was surrounded by powerful voices in her own family (mother Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick, godmother Darlene Love, honorary aunt Aretha Franklin). After working as a model and commercial actress in the early 1980s, Whitney was discovered during a New York City nightclub performance, which led to her signing a contract with Clive Davis at Arista Records. Whitney’s first song was a duet in 1984 with Teddy Pendergrass on “Hold Me.”

She released her self-titled début album the following year, which catapulted her into superstardom as the album topped the Billboard 200 for 14 non-consecutive weeks before becoming the top-selling album of 1986, eventually achieving diamond status in the US and selling over 22 million copies worldwide. The singles “Saving All My Love For You,” “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum status. The music video for “How Will I Know” received heavy rotation on MTV, which was uncommon for Black women at the time. She took home the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award for “Saving” in 1986; her performance at the Grammys of “Saving” later won her an Emmy award. She also won seven American Music Awards between 1986 and 1987.
