Khaled Hadj Ibrahim ( خالد حاج إبراهيم), also known in his early career as Cheb Khaled (الشاب خالد, “Young Man” Khaled), is an Algerian Raï singer. He broke out internationally in 1992, when after signing with a French record label he enlisted the help of North American producers Don Was and Michael Brook, leading to a trademark sound mixing traditional African music with dancefloor elements.
