Kim Petras (born August 27, 1992) is a German-born singer and songwriter, based in LA.
Petras first gained attention in 2006, when she was 13, for discussing her gender transition and promoting transgender rights in Germany. At the age of 16, Petras was the youngest known woman to undergo gender reassignment surgery.
She released a handful of songs online between 2008 and 2011, and moved to LA in 2013 to work with producers such as The Stereotypes and Aaron Joseph. After writing music for herself and others for several years, Petras joined forces with veteran songwriters and producers Cirkut and Dr. Luke. In August of 2017, Petras released “I Don’t Want It At All,” followed by seven other singles, including , “Heart to Break” in 2018 and “1,2,3 dayz up” featuring SOPHIE in 2019 which gained her a bigger following.
