Marley Marl (born Marlon Williams on September 30, 1962 in New York City) is a DJ and producer who grew up in the Queensbridge projects. He is known as the production leader of the Juice Crew, a rap collective consisting of Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Roxanne Shanté, Craig G, Masta Ace, and MC Shan. He is known for being the architect behind the 1988 posse cut “The Symphony” featuring Masta Ace, Craig G, Kool G. Rap, and Kane.

Marley also worked on Eric B. & Rakim’s classic 1987 debut album Paid In Full and LL Cool J’s acclaimed 1990 album Mama Said Knock You Out among other projects with TLC, Tragedy Khadafi, Heavy D, MC Lyte, BBD, Capone-N-Noreaga, and Nas. Marley even produced the collaborative album Hip-Hop Lives in 2007 with one-time nemesis KRS-One. Marley was also a DJ on the WBLS show Rap Attack with Mr. Magic, which got them a shout-out from The Notorious B.I.G. on his 1994 single “Juicy.”
