Motion City Soundtrack
Motion City Soundtrack
Motion City Soundtrack was a pop punk/alt rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are most well-known for songs “Everything Is Alright” and “The Future Freaks Me Out” and their use of the Moog synthesizer.
First formed in Minneapolis in 1997 by Justin Courtney Pierre and Joshua Cain, the band currently consists of Pierre (vocals), Cain (guitar), Jesse Johnson (synth), Matthew Taylor (bass), and Tony Thaxton (drums). Since their creation, the band has released six studio albums and numerous EPs. Their breakthrough album, Commmit This to Memory, was released in 2005 under Epitaph Records, a relationship that has largely continued to their most recent album, 2015’s Panic Stations.
Although the group is well-known for touring heavily, most notably ten times at Warped Tour, they announced on March 11, 2016 that their next tour would be their last and invited fans to “come out and sing along with us one last time” at the So Long, Farewell tour. The tour, originally 29 US dates, expanded to almost twice that many to include four sold out shows at Varsity Theater in Minneapolis as well as shows in Australia and Japan, ultimately ending at Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 18, 2016.
