On February 5, 1971 in Boonville, Missouri, Sara Lynn Evans was born. The eldest girl of seven children, Sara grew up on a farm near New Franklin. She started singing at the age of five. When she was 8, she was hit by a car in front of her house. Her legs were broken in several places. She was in a wheelchair but continued singing to pay her medical bills. The singer-songwriter has been married twice. First to Craig Schelske, whom she married on September 25, 1993. Sara filed for divorce and it was finalized on September 28, 2007. She then married Jay Barker on June 14, 2008 in Franklin, Tennessee. She has three children of her own. Avery Jack, born August 21, 1999; Olivia Margaret, born January 22, 2003; and Audrey Elizabeth, born October 6, 2004. She also has 4 step-children with Barker. Andrew, born in 1999; Braxton, born in 2000; and twins Sarah Ashlee & Harrison, born September 10, 2001. The blended family live in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Sara is known for “No Place That Far”, “Born to Fly”, “Suds in the Bucket”, “A Real Fine Place to Start” and “A Little Bit Stronger”.
