[Verse 1]
You got a plastic name and a plastic heart
You can play the game or you'll never start
I'm talking to you
You got a plastic house and a plastic fence
Gotta look around or you'll lose your sense
Am I getting through?

You got a plastic girl in a plastic bed
And she's in your house made of gingerbread
You're in there too
Got a plastic smile on a plastic face
But it's underneath that you can't erase
But what can you do-do-do?

[Chorus]
Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's not that hard after all
When everybody does

Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's gonna tear down the walls
If everybody loves

[Verse 2]
You live in a plastic dream through a plastic card
But reality you don't disregard
You know that it's true
You got a plastic goal in a plastic life
Gotta search your soul, gotta make it right
And here's what you do-do-do

[Chorus]
Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's not that hard after all
When everybody does

Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's gonna tear down the walls
If everybody loves

[Verse 3]
Wake up in the morning
Some are not sleeping tight
A matter you've been ignoring
Why can't you just say it?
Will not wait forever
Can't you see I'm right
I want you to endeavor
To tell me again and again

[Chorus]
Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's not that hard after all
When everybody does

Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's gonna tear down the walls
If everybody loves

(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's not that hard after all
When everybody does
Say love
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
It's gonna tear down the walls

(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)
(Tell me what I want, what I want to hear)

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. At age 6, she began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was 9, she was writing her own songs.

When she was 11, Morissette joined the cast of a Nickelodeon children’s show called You Can’t Do That on Television, and saved up her earnings. In 1987, she used them to self-release her first track, “Fate Stay With Me.” The song caught the attention of record label MCA Canada; at age 14, Morissette signed a contract with the company. She released a self-titled album, Alanis, in 1991, which went platinum. Quickly following up the success of her first album, Morissette released Now Is The Time a year later, though it did not reach the same level of popularity.

In 1994 Morissette moved to Los Angeles teamed up with industry veteran Glen Ballard, and she began to approach songwriting more organically.
