[Chorus]
We play the game with determination
We don't give a damn about our reputation, baby
It's not a game, it's a revelation, step inside the real world
The real world, yeah, yeah, yeah, the real world, yeah

[Verse 1]
It's been every day now and it just won't go away now, no
Life is so intense now, not much common sense now, yeah
And late in the night I turn out my light, yeah
A song in my head and it says, "Step inside the real world"

[Chorus]
We play the game with determination
We don't give a damn about our reputation, baby
It's not a game, it's a revelation
Just another day in the real world, yeah, the real world

[Verse 2]
I can make decisions with no one else believing me
I just look inside me 'cause I've got my own voice to guide me
It came in a dream, a light so extreme, yeah
A voice in my head and it says, "Step inside the real world"

[Chorus]
We play the game with determination
We don't give a damn about our reputation, baby
It's not a game, it's a revelation, step inside the real world
The real world, yeah, yeah, yeah, the real world, yeah

[Verse 3]
You got to step inside the real world, step inside the real world
I woke from the dream, I know what it means
A voice in my head and it says, "You're here inside the real world"

[Chorus]
We play the game with determination
We don't give a damn about our reputation, baby
It's not a game, it's a revelation, step inside the real world
The real world, yeah, yeah, yeah, the real world, yeah
We play the game with determination
We don't give a damn about our reputation, baby
It's not a game, it's a revelation, step inside the real world
The real world, yeah, yeah, yeah, the real world, yeah

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. At age 6, she began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was 9, she was writing her own songs.

When she was 11, Morissette joined the cast of a Nickelodeon children’s show called You Can’t Do That on Television, and saved up her earnings. In 1987, she used them to self-release her first track, “Fate Stay With Me.” The song caught the attention of record label MCA Canada; at age 14, Morissette signed a contract with the company. She released a self-titled album, Alanis, in 1991, which went platinum. Quickly following up the success of her first album, Morissette released Now Is The Time a year later, though it did not reach the same level of popularity.

In 1994 Morissette moved to Los Angeles teamed up with industry veteran Glen Ballard, and she began to approach songwriting more organically.
