[Intro]
Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You gotta go for gold

(I know you're gonna dig this)

[Verse 1]
Hey boy, you wanted all or nothing
Lose the apprehension, baby
And go with the flow 'cause you know you've got to
Stand up if you want the answers
You need to blast them straight up, baby
So say what you mean and you mean to say now

Hey, you don't have to go and prove it
Just go ahead and do it
Your time is for the taking, making
The best of what you got now

[Chorus]
Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You gotta go for gold

[Verse 2]
Don't care what they say about you
You never throw a hero party
For those who oppose who you chose to be now
Maybe you could feel the power
It's like a bomb inside your head that blows if you're
Slow when you go to use it

You, you got to show them that you mean it
Just go ahead and scream it
And show them what they're missing, listen
To what your heart could tell you

[Chorus]
Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You gotta go for gold, baby baby

Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You got to go for gold and you'll make it baby
Gold! And when you're there you got to

[Verse 3]
Throw your hands in the air
And wave them like you just don't care
(Okay, party people in the house)
Reaching, teaching, practice what you're preaching

Throw your hands in the air
And wave them like you just don't care
(Okay, party people in the house)
Moving, proving everything you're doing

(I know you're gonna dig this)

[Chorus]
Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You gotta go for gold

[Verse 4]
You, you don't have to go and prove it
You just go ahead and do it
Your time is for the taking, making
The best of what you got now

Always too hot
Never too cold
Give your best shot
Go with the flow 'cause you know you've got to

[Chorus]
Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You gotta go for gold, baby baby

Always too hot, never too cold
You make your best shot too hot to hold
Never too young, never too old
You got to go for gold, baby baby

Always too hot
Take your best shot
Go with the flow 'cause you know you've got to
Always too hot
Take your best shot
Go with the flow 'cause you know you've got to

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. At age 6, she began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was 9, she was writing her own songs.

When she was 11, Morissette joined the cast of a Nickelodeon children’s show called You Can’t Do That on Television, and saved up her earnings. In 1987, she used them to self-release her first track, “Fate Stay With Me.” The song caught the attention of record label MCA Canada; at age 14, Morissette signed a contract with the company. She released a self-titled album, Alanis, in 1991, which went platinum. Quickly following up the success of her first album, Morissette released Now Is The Time a year later, though it did not reach the same level of popularity.

In 1994 Morissette moved to Los Angeles teamed up with industry veteran Glen Ballard, and she began to approach songwriting more organically.
