Songwriter: David Bowie

[Verse 1]
Hey man, oh leave me alone, you know
Hey man, oh Henry, get off the phone, I gotta
Hey man, I gotta straighten my face
This mellow-thighed chick just put my spine out of place
Hey man, my schooldays insane
Hey man, my work's down the drain
Ain't good, well she's a total blam-blam
She said she had to squeeze it but she, and then she

[Chorus]
Don't lean on me man, because you can't afford the ticket
Back to suffragette city
Don't lean on me man
Because you ain't got time to check it
You know my suffragette city
Is outta sight, oh, it's all right

[Verse 2]
Hey man, oh leave me alone, go away
Hey man, I can't take much this time, no way
Hey man, hey droogie don't crash here
There's only room for one and here she comes, here she comes

[Chorus x2]
Don't lean on me man, because you can't afford the ticket
Back to suffragette city
Don't lean on me man
Because you ain't got time to check it
You know my suffragette city
Is outta sight, wow it's all right

[Bridge]
Suffragette city, suffragette city
Suffragette city, suffragette city

[Outro]
Aaaaaah wham bam thank you ma'am!
Suffragette city
Back in suffragette city
Way down in suffragette city
Back in suffragette city
Doo wah! Suffragette city
Woo hah! Suffragette city
Way down in suffragette city
Suffragette city, suffragette

Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains are a Seattle-based rock band. They rose to international fame in the early 1990s as part of the ‘grunge’ movement. They are one of the most critically and commercially acclaimed acts of the 90s. Their first 3 studio albums all went multi-platinum and they have received 8 Grammy nominations for Best Hard Rock performance (sadly, never winning once).

Their unique sound comes from the harmonized vocals of co-founders Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell, as showcased in some of their biggest songs like “No Excuses” from Jar of Flies, “Angry Chair” from Dirt and “Again” from the self-titled album. Cantrell also serves as the primary songwriter and guitarist of the band.

The band was never restricted to grunge. Cantrell believes it to be heavy metal; and indeed a lot of modern heavy metal bands cite Alice in Chains as an influence, including Metallica for Death Magnetic.
