Last night I heard you calling
I heard you calling out a name
I did not know
Woke up and tears were falling
Yes tears were falling all around
"MY BED OF WOE"

Here's a situation
Right before my eyes I can't ignore it
Your new infatuation
But I knew it long before

There is something your heart has been telling me
But it's something I already know
You're a man who "CONCEALS" all the things that he feels
And won't let go
Even though
There's a love burning inside of you
With a flame so fierce and so bright
But I know you so well
I just had to tell you tonight

Today the day is dawning
You sit in silence in the "HALF" light
Of the room
Outside the sun is shining
I keep on smiling trying hard
To pierce the gloom

Here's a situation
Right before my eyes I can't ignore it
Your new infatuation
But I knew it long before

There is something your heart has been telling me
But it's something I already know
You're a man who "CONCEALS" all the things that you feel
And won't let go
Even though
There's a love burning inside of you
With a flame so fierce and so bright
But I love you so well
I just had to tell you tonight

Think of the water beneath the bridge
Sailing "OUR BOATS" against the tide
Think of the life that we have lived
And of the times we cried
"GIVIN' OLD LOVE" half a chance
And we will be all right

There is something my heart has been telling me
But it's something I already know
"WHY TRY TO CONCEAL" all the things that you feel
And not let go
Even though
There's a love burning inside of me
With a flame so hot and so bright
"OH" I love you so well
I just had to tell you tonight

Bette Midler

Bette Midler is a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, comedienne and actress. Named in honor of Bette Davis, Midler’s career began performing off-broadway until she developed the stage persona The Divine Miss M while singing at the world-famous Continental Baths gay bathhouse. A pre-fame Barry Manilow, the venue’s in-house piano player, produced her Grammy-nominated debut album which scored three US top 40 singles including the Grammy-nominated “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. Midler took home the Best New Artist Grammy that year, her first of three career wins.

Throughout the 1970s, Midler found further success with music, Broadway, television and film. The Rose, Midler’s 1979 acting debut, earned her both Oscar and Academy Award nominations, and its namesake song won her a Golden Globe and another Grammy – also giving Midler her first success overseas.

The early 1980s proved less successful for Midler with four under-performing singles and a box office flop with the film Jinxed. However, the second half of the decade would prove far more fruitful with a handful of very successful films including Down and Out in Beverly Hills, Ruthless People, Outrageous Fortune and Beaches, the latter featuring a chart-topping cover of “Wind Beneath My Wings” that won Midler her third Grammy and is considered one of the greatest songs in American film history.
